Today, we’re taking a look at the some of the greatest applications aimed at the photography market. All of these apps can be had for less than $50. We’ll be exploring software for Windows, Mac and even a couple for mobile devices.
It is very sleek and fits in perfectly with the other applications running on your Mac. With integrated features with iSight, iPhoto and Aperture, it is a must have application if you are looking for an inexpensive alterative to Photoshop or Elements.
Daisydisk is one of the prettiest applications I have ever had the pleasure of using. It is super easy to use and costs around $10.
WinDirStat doesn’t have the same glossy GUI but then again it is 100% free and it works in every Windows version from 95 all the way to Windows 7.
Faststone is free for personal and educational use. If you wish to use for commercial use you can spend $35 for a lifetime version, which will include every update.
It’s completely free and allows you to do all the basic photography edits you would expect, such as crop, resize, combine, brightness, colour editing and much more.
For Mac users, the nearest alternative is simply iPhoto which is pre-installed on your Mac when you purchase it.
The light version contains most of the same features as the full version including automatic alignment and exposure fusions of bracketed photos. The light version is just $39 on both platforms with free access to upgrades for a whole year.
Mac users: This software is currently not in the app store and has to be purchased through the official website.
It contains sample contracts, business forms and many other useful tools that take you farther than any other app I have seen. The application is $19.99 which is a little expensive, however its brand new and I am sure over time it will be updated with more tips.
Mac: Flare
Flare is a simple application that allows you add effects and textures to your photographs. The great bit about the application is that it has got the small price tag of $19.95. However in the Mac App Store, you can pick this application for half price at just $19.99.Mac: PixelMator
Photoshop has a huge price tag and often too many features for an amateur photographer. Pixelmator is just $29.99 and is one of the most powerful image editors on the Mac platform.It is very sleek and fits in perfectly with the other applications running on your Mac. iPhone: UScapeit
Simply load up your video mode, do a 360 spin and then let the UScapeit servers do their magic as they turn it into an amazing panoramic image. It takes around 30 minutes for the video to convert into a picture, but it’s still pretty amazing for a free application.Windows: Photoscape

Acorn is another powerful editing suite. Its very tidy and easy to use. The newest version has over 50+ new features including layer styles, gradients, quick masks and also allows you to import PSD images into it. This is great if you only have one license of Photoshop and multiple computers. Acorn is the most expensive application on this list at $49.99.Windows and Mac: Photomatix Light

iPad/iPhone: Colour My Photos HD
Colour My Photos has got a nice looking and easy-to-use multi-touch interface to create amazing, movie style photos. At just $1.99, it’s well worth the download.iPad/iPhone: 100 Cameras in 1
Trey Ratcliff is one name which crops up over and over again. His new application ’100 cameras in 1′ has been around since the start of the year, however the new update has added Instagram sharing (Facebook, Twitter, etc…) which makes this one handy app. All for just $0.99.Android: Camera ZOOM FX
The most advanced camera for Android! This app contains over 40 effects for your photos, and like Mr Ratcliff’s iPhone alternative, it also can post your images to your popular social networks. Did I mention it only costs $2?iPad: Wedding Photographer’s Toolkit
